Hey!
Vandaag zijn we op uitstap geweest, naar Verbeke Foundation. Dat is een tentoonstelling, een beetje afgelegen, namelijk in Westakker, 9190 Kemzeke (Stekene) (Oost-Vlaanderen), België.

Deze tentoonstelling heeft enkele grote artiesten, die permanent zijn, huidig een work in progress en tijdelijke tentoonstelling "G58-G59 Mass-akker". Deze tentoonstelling omvat verschillende kleine exposities met meer dan 100 kuinstenaars van over de hele wereld. Het opzet is ontstaan als hommage aan de kunstenaarsgroep G58 en de daaropvolgende collage tentoonstelling in 1959. Met dit als uitgangspunt werden er verschillende hedendaagse kunstenaars-groeperingen aangesproken om te participeren in de wintertentoonstelling G58 een actuele tegenhanger te bieden.

Het is een tentoonstelling die een hele indruk achterlaat, het thema is namelijk vergankelijkheid. Dus vrij lugubere werken zijn er te zien. Bijvoorbeeld een hersenkwab/ vinger / haar / ... aangesloten aan elektroden om zo geluid te reproduceren. Of dode dieren, opgezet, in verschillende zuurtegraden gelegd, foetussen in sterk water en bloed vermengd met verschillende vloeistoffen. Dit zijn de meest shockerende voorbeelden die me bijgebleven zijn, er zijn ook andere werken natuurlijk, stapelstructuren tot heel hoog, industriële werken, opstellingen, schilderijen enzovoort.
De tentoonstelling is bovendien in een Hangar, wat een geheel andere sfeer geeft t.o.v. een traditionele tentoonstelling.


Wat is nu het verband met ons afstudeerproject?

Wel we zijn de tentoonstelling gaan bekijken om zo te leren hoe een tentoonstelling in elkaar zit en hoe we onze eigen tentoonstelling kunnen aanpakken.
We hebben ook een opdracht gekregen die we in groepen van 3 moesten oplossen.
Ik heb samen gewerkt met Sun Tong en Daphné De Jonge.
Hierbij geef ik de vragenlijst, echter niet de antwoorden, dan kan u zelf beter een indruk gaan opdoen aan de tentoonstelling:

'ORGANISATIE / INHOUDELIJK'

* Waarom staan bepaalde werken op een specifieke plek?
* Zijn werken die naast elkaar of in de buurt van elkaar staan aan elkaar gerelateerd? Op welke manier?
* Zie je een verschil tussen tijdelijk en permanent opgestelde werken? Hoe wordt dat verschil duidelijk?

'ORGANISATIE/PRAKTISCH'

* Is het duidelijk waar de verschillende functies (toilet, onthaal, cafetaria, ...) zich bevinden?
* Hoe ervaar je de grens tussen binnen – buiten of omgekeerd? Verklaar.
* Hoe (via welke ingrepen) werd de ruimte operatief gemaakt?

'BETEKENIS'

* Vergelijk Verbeke Foundation met een ander museum naar keuze. Wat zijn de overeenkomsten/verschillen?
* Wat is het doel van dit project? Hoe tracht men dit doel te bereiken?
* Is het project in zijn opzet geslaagd?
* Wat vond je van het bezoek?

'COMMUNICATIE'

* Kende je Verbeke Foundation? Hoe (indien ja)? Waarom niet (indien neen)?

Hey!
Today, we had a trip to Verbeke Foundation. This is an exhibition, in a remote place, in West Field, 9190 Kemzeke (Stekene) (East Flanders), Belgium.

This exhibition has some great artists, permanently, currently a work in progress and temporary exhibition "Mass-G58-G59 field. This exhibition includes several small exhibits with a total of more than 100 artists from around the world. The design is created as a tribute to the G58 group of artists, but also to the subsequent exhibition in the year 1959. With this as a starting point, various contemporary artists groups mobilized to partipicipate in the winter exhibition to offer a possible current counter part.

It is an exhibition that leaves an impression whole, the theme is transience. So Friday lugubrious works there are to see. For example, a brain lobe / finger / hair / ... connected to electrodes in order to reproduce sound. Or dead animals, set up in different acids placed, fetuses in highly acid water and blood mixed with various liquids. These are the most shocking examples that stayed in my mind, there are also other works of course, very high structures, industrial works, installations, paintings and so on.
The exhibition is in a Hangar, which has a completely different atmosphere compared to a traditional exhibition.


What is the connection with our graduationproject?

However, we are seeing the exhibition in order to learn how a show this way and how we can tackle our own exhibition.
We have also been given a mandate that we had to solve the 3 groups.
I have worked with Sun Tong and Daphne De Jonge.

* Why are some works on a specific place?
* Are works side by side or near each other are related? In what way?
* Do you see a difference between temporary and permanent's work? How is that difference?

'ORGANIZATION / PRACTICE'

* Is it clear where the various functions (toilet, reception, cafeteria, ...) located?
* Can you feel the boundary between inside - outside or vice versa? Why, How?.
* How (through what manners),is the place created functionally?

'MEANING'

* Compare with another museum of your choice. What are the similarities / differences?
* What is the purpose of this project? How did they seek to achieve this goal?
* Is the project succeeded in its objective?
* What did you think of the visit?
